Any updates on crops? It looks like a tough year for our farmer friends. Any updates appreciated!

Surprised there are no reports. Been seeing pics of snows, specks, and cranes shot this week.

I think this is as quiet as I've ever seen/heard it for the fall season.

Here is a report from Sask. We did Ok today.....28 birds. BUT.....20 were adults. The birds we are hunting have almost no young. When you look at them on the ground or going over....Almost all the Blues have white heads. Don't know where they came from in the Arctic, but they had a very poor hatch. Hopefully it might change as later migrators might have more young.

Thanks for the report Ken. What percentage of the fields would you guess have undergone a normal harvest, or will undergo a normal harvest. Earlier, I was told there may be a lot that just get cut for sileage. Any local ducks?

Ken, we ALL appreciate the report! Good luck to you.

All grains have been harvested here. Only thing left is canola here and there. A lot oif the barley and peas has been turning green. Fields every where for them to choose. Hardly any ducks here.

Poor hunt yesterday.....high sky and no wind. They didn't decoy to all full bodies. Different story today. We shot a bunch. Strong winds. Still probably only 10-15% young. Last day for us is tomorrow.

Last day was OK.....not the best, but not the worst. 17 whites and 4 ducks. Time to go home tomorrow morning. Good luck to you guys still coming up. Lots of whites. But we had trouble finding Canadas. Did shoot some Specks this year.

Really appreciate the reports Ken. Leaves me optimistic for our trip in a couple weeks. Did you get any sense that some farmers were worried about you driving in? Vehicle starting fire due to dryness.

No problems with it being dry. Where we hunted they got quite a bit of rain lately. Lots of pea and barley fields were greening up. You could see that the birds were sitting on the windrows of grain or peas. We put put out decoys on where the strips were.

Just got back from South Central Saskatchewan and had a great time. Dry, very dry as expected. To sum it all up easily, no ducks, a few dark geese, plenty of Cranes, lots and lots of Snows and Ross with lots of juvies. Scouting was easy for the most part with plenty of white geese and Cranes. Morning feeds were predictable for the next day, evening feeds were not predictable at all. Canadas were out early in the afternoons and the Snows would go to them for an evening feed but would not return to the same field the next morning. Snows were usually in gigantic morning feeds and smaller afternoon feeds. Ducks were spotty at best for us while set up for geese but we never saw many far away from the bigger water that they were staying on. Sunday and Thursday we had hard Northwests for the morning and watched thousands of snows and Cranes moving down. We ran into a few outfitters scouting but never really came across many other hunters. I think we saw 4 other groups in 7 days. with there being no pressure the birds were content to continue to return to morning feeds until they ate them out entirely. We tried to hunt smaller feeds and did very well. As usual, we were welcomed everywhere we went. Typical farmer talk and lots of laughs with the current situation. Met some new friends and connected with some old ones while we were there. Stepped out of the "normal" routine up there and it paid off. If any of the site regulars are headed up and want some more detailed info just PM me.

Sounds like a good trip. Good to hear about the juvie numbers. Thanks for the report.
